Volunteering
There are many ways of volunteering for the RSPCA Basingstoke and Andover Branch, including working with the animals, fundraising and social events
The main areas we need volunteers for at present are:
Fundraising
We carry out collections outside of the Chineham Tesco store and often set up stalls at various local functions such as summer fetes, Christmas fairs, sponsored walks, quiz nights. We are always looking for new ideas and for volunteers to help fundraise for the branch.
Shop Assistants
To work in our charity shop for a few hours to help with sorting out and pricing suitable clothes, bric-a-brac, books etc to sell in the shop.
Home Visits
We are required to carry out home checks before members of the public provide homes to animals from the society. The checks are always carried out for dogs, cats and rabbits. Before carrying out any home checks you will be required to attend a home visitors course that is run by the RSPCA HQ staff.
Driving
Collection of animals: to / from foster homes to/from the vets
For the shop: to collect items that have been donated to the shop by members of the public. The branch van is usually used for this.
Fostering
We are always looking for foster homes for unwanted cats and sometimes dogs. Fosterers take care of animals before they are adopted by public.
Animal care experience for particular animals is a help.
Adequate space for the animals is essential.
We supply the animals food.
Campaigns
The branch receives information from HQ asking us to promote the campaigns that RSPCA are involved with eg Improvements for Farm Animals, Stopping Long Distance Live Animal Transportation, Freedom Food, Stopping Puppy Farms, Greyhound Plight.
Committee Members
We are always looking for people who are interested in the RSPCA, especially at branch level and keen to become a committee member.
